The Indian General Election: A Personal Battle

The independence of India came, as well as the government of the country. Hundreds of political parties were formed, however for the past 67 years, only one has remained in power, the Indian National Congress. They gave India a good start, however have things started to deteriorate? Corruption and bribery allegations thrown around relentlessly at parties, at politicians, at bureaucrats. Violence at places, and politicians blamed of paying people to do it? Even black money kept in outside banks of the world? Does India need to give a go at a new government? These elections will tell, as current Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stands against Rahul Gandhi from the Indian National Congress. For the past years, people have been giving their votes to Congress, like it was a chore every five years that was the same thing every time. However now people have had the epiphany. They have had the realisation that India is not going in the right direction! We are not here to blame a party, however is the system adopted to give India a kick start when it was made independent, however now as it stands as a sure economic competitor and has some of the most intelligent individuals, India needs to change its train of thought!
While Congress remained in power, they attempted to rub out Modi and the BJP using the people and agencies they had at hand, eventually leading to Modi's rejection of visa into the USA and even Canada. However, Modi had enough of it, and came up in a rampage in order to clear his and the BJP's name. Modi, being raised in tough conditions, knows how it is living at the bottom of the social pyramid, as a tea seller at a railway station, and at the top with the wealthy politicians with a level Z+ security having 36 armed personnel at his side at all times. In these General Elections of 2014, Modi has led the Bharatiya Janata Party to becoming one of the two main competitors in these elections now: The Indian National Congress being represented by Rahul Gandhi and The Bharatiya Janata Party being represented by Narendra Modi.
For the past few weeks, this fight has turned personal, with the two politicians fighting it in their rallies in different Indian cities and states. A number of news agencies around India continue to attack Modi, after being under the Congress for the past 67 years. This constant back and forth should not continue as that faithful day in May approaches, where the citizens (or "Janta" in Hindi) will get their answer, as to who will be the next Prime Minister of India.
However the fact remains with the people, with opinion polls showing Modi and the BJP edging over Congress and Rahul Gandhi, as well as numerous interviews with the people. We've even seen politicians themselves giving their opinion for Modi, with Mr. Raj Thackeray (Founder of the MNS political party) strongly showing his support for Modi, while 'destroying' numerous interviewers, passing their comments and questions as biased and unfair.
The result however is all up to the people of India, and the final chapter of this story of two political parties and one Prime Minister's seat will be told on 16th May 2014.
