I am currently on winter break, but thought to share a bit of how this complex world of business, can be simplified, a lot.
To be clear, I, Paarvv, am a teenager, at 14, along with Eric (15) and Joshua (17). We decided to start this blog, because even though we were teenagers, we all had some background or knowledge in business. I trade in the markets, so does Joshua. Eric has engaged in a lot of research about start ups and different markets. Many people find business tedious, hard and boring, but for me, it is very intriguing. Everything I do, everything, is linked to a business. I sit here writing this post, I am sitting on furniture made by IKEA, a global market player. I am typing on a keyboard made by Apple, the largest electronics manufacturer in the world. Everything, from the clothes I wear, to the food I eat to the things I use, have been assembled or produced by a business, and sold to me by a business.
Now, onto the topic of starting your own business. I want to start up my own business. I sit here, writing about how great Amazon is for launching a drone system, or how Apple will sell a lot more iPhones because of a new deal, but what if I was in that position. When Steve Jobs founded Apple, it was an idea. Unfortunately, Mr Jobs could not stay with us, but his legacy will always remain. Now, Apple is a business that turns huge profits, and that is the business. They make the MacBook Pro at $200, and sell it at $1,400. That is $1,200 profit! If Apple sells 100,000 MacBooks a day (estimate), then that is $120 million profit, on one product in one day! After paying salaries and rent, there should be at least $500,000 to $1 million remaining for the owners. Mr Jobs was not one to suck it all in, so he reinvested, and reinvested, and kept pumping it back into Apple, so it could distribute in more places, produce more, advertise more, research more, and today, Apple sits on a perch, and is almost untouchable.
This was simple, research, develop, manufacture and sell. That is how business works!
Retail businesses are even simpler. Buy in wholesale, sell at a higher price!
