Apple vs. Samsung... But wait a minute, Google?

The two telecommunications and technology multinationals, Apple and Samsung are once again drawn face-to-face as Apple is now seeking around $2 billion as compensation to violating several of its mobile software patents. Samsung got back by claiming that two of its own had been contravened by Apple. This constant back and fourth has been going on since the dawn of the rivalry, however, Google has been brought into the question too. Google has developed Android used by the Samsung smartphones, but a few of the things that have been questioned by Apple were in fact developed by Google.

As reported in the New York Times Professor Mark Kenna, teacher of intellectual property law at Notre Dame says:
“Google’s been lurking in the background of all these cases because of the Android system."
“Several people have described the initial battle between Samsung and Apple as really one between Apple and Google."

As direct as these words are, they are very true. Google is behind a very large fraction of Samsung's system. Steve Jobs, the late founder of Apple also used to claim that Android was just a copied version of the iPhone, so does that mean that the battle is actually Apple vs. Google. Mr. Jobs also put in that Microsoft was a copy of the Mac, however that was already fought out in court earlier.

It is internationally believed that Apple is the true innovator while companies such as Samsung (or Google) and Microsoft come along and profit of them. This is the second time that Apple and Samsung will sit face-to-face in court, so let's see what this second showdown has in store.
